Born out of my darkest and hardest time in my life, It is not simply a heartbreak song. I like to call it a heavy heart song, and lyrically it went beyond speaking to the girl in question. It also addressed her family, in particular her mother, who seemed to go out of her way break me. It’s one of the few songs I composed solely on guitar. I had written a second verse, but truthfully I had said all I needed to say by the end of the first. That left me with an unfinished song. Enter Ziyon. The concept I had for making this a male duet was that the song would be telling my heavy heart story, and Ziyon would write his heavy heart story. The rest is history. It’s one of the best collaborations I've ever done, and there are moments in the song where listeners will struggle to tell the difference vocally between the two of us.
